PH meter - anyone tried the basic eBay ones?

Hi.
Any cheap alternative to ph meter that can do a good job?

I have something like THAT one. Can't complain at all except that the cap with the storage solution isn't tight and dries out without putting parafilm around. But hey 30 bucks, whatcha expect, alien tech?
Have heard hat the "neon marker like" meters aren't worth it...

@crillz It's actually THAT one. Was cheaper with better customer rating...
Ran it against fresh calibration solution, pH strips (the ones with a bunch of small colour squares), and a temp meter. Values seemed correct. EC I still have to check.
For a pH meter, it's relatively easy to calibrate.
On the other hand, I wouldn't use it in a lab for enzymatic assays or if used on a daily basis (it would probably break soon due to exhaustion). Originally got it because I mix my own fertilisers and for that purpose it's more than enough ;) .
  • Excellent, thank you both. I asked because I have bought a cheaper gadget from China, my mate had a $400 golf range finder that he got off eBay to measure distance. I then purchased the China version and found it does exactly the same job and you can't even really tell the difference. Have heard different stories though.
